Not only do we never pass over free stuff but we try to milk it for everything its worth!

Today the country was overjoyed when the reigning queen OPRAH herself announced that she was treating America to a free meal! The result? Pandemonium. I went to my local KFC to make good on her promise and found myself in line for over an hour, everyone was waving that darn free meal voucher in the poor cashiers face. I truly though he was going to faint from over-exhaustion, I don’t think his round body ever had to move that fast back and forth so quickly. The line was out the door an I found myself noticing two things:

I found myself standing behind a pregnant woman with 4 children. Apparently she used up a whole ream printing up these vouchers. She waddles up to the counter and proceeds to tell the cashier that she “wants 25 meals” she lays the vouchers on the counter and waits expectantly for the cashier to make good on her request. I of course am angry because she’s directly in front of me and now I’m going to have to wait for another hour while they get her ridiculous order ready.The portly cashier runs to the back to speak with his manger (who looked exhausted as well) I can hear a heated argument between the two men and watch as the poor cashier runs back to the woman and happily tells her its one per person. She actually had the nerve to gripe about being denied her request and states rather loudly that “Oprah’s buying this for me” and storms off to wait for her 5 meals to be prepared. She apparently was trying to get food for the week! No, make that 2 weeks. Greedy? Definitely! come on now we’ve got to do better than this…..and we can!

So to all my AA’s Lets be respectful of the people in line behind us and remember that they are hungry too and that though we may have printed up hundreds of vouchers lets save some grilled chicken for everyone else…

I think that KFC needs to rethink their strategy a bit because after I ate their new grilled chicken I wanted to go to Popeye’s and get some GOOD chicken…..

This is the music of my generation! When I hear this song it makes me think of the 70’s, it has a catchy Disco beat. This band certainly has a style all their own.!The quirky lead singer reminds me of a young Gloria Gaynor aka The Disco Queen for some odd reason. Is disco being revived? I hope so

 Is it just me or are all my favorite songs and singers coming from the U.K? Estell? Amy Winehouse? Adelle? I see a trend…..

This is a classic example of how people come up with a great idea that everyone loves and out of greed sell it to a major corporation for a nice profit! Not only is Youtube a useless shadow of its former self  but they have now made it super difficult for me to add vids to my site or re-post them anywhere. Don’t they understand how that builds traffic and expands their viewership? Bad move Youtube guys, for shame…… Instead of disabling embedding why not embrace the people who care enough about your crappy content to copy and re-post it so that others can enjoy it? Problem Solved

My nephew Javan put together a tournament at the beginning of this month for all the hardcore touch (tag)  football players. If this was touch football then im a monkeys uncle because it looked like tackle to me. These guys were serious players who played like they were in the NFL, like they had million dollar contracts! There was one player in particular that reminded me of a young ” Vin Diesel” not only was he cute but he was a good player and if hes  reading this you can contact me through my nephew (wink) Just Kidding…

As a Socialite I feel that it is my duty to explore new and interesting places so at the end of this year yours truly is relocating to Atlanta Georgia! Why Georgia you may ask? Its only 6 hours away from my mom and pop and my large extended family. It so hard to cut that umbilical cord especially when the babe is hanging on for dear life.

My parent have always encouraged me to try new things and now after 25 years of living at home (sob) I’m relocating. Not only will I miss my family dearly but I’ll miss my animals and friends who have shaped and inspired me! No more “Classy Ladies day out”  or “Wild out Fridays” or “Year Book Club” meetings. SIGH..

What new adventures await me? I don’t know yet but I guarantee you I’ll handle everything like I always do, with a touch of class and sophistication…

This book scared me as a child now they have made a movie to terrify me even more. Am I the only one who thinks this is going to be the creepiest movie ever? I’ll probably be pressured into seeing it by my sisters and spend the night wide awake too scared to go to sleep. I haven’t had a nightmare in over 10 years but this may trigger it…

BB Kings is a new joint in Orlando that blends the soulful sound of the legendary blues singer with a bit of ecclectic funk. CICI (no relation) is the headliner there every weekend, she belts out the hits like no other accompanied by a 7 piece band. If your looking for a new place to hang out or dance head down to Point Orlando and enjoy the food and music of BB’s!

Despite the fact that the majority of the people who came were late, it was a lot of fun! It was a full (hot) house. A big thanks goes out to everyone who came as well as Jay my DJ who did his thing. And I’d especially like to thank my friend Stacy who was gracious enough to open her house up to us!

The place was packed on Saturday night! Young and old everyone filed onto the ice trying their hardest not to fall, some unsuccessfully! I was able to see a lot of people I hadn’t seen in a while and mingle with new friends. My 3 times on ice didn’t go so well hence why i sat on the side lines cheering everyone on. Hopefully everyone will get together again soon so nice to see so many of us in one place….

I know this is super mainstream which is something I try to stay away from. I don’t listen to the radio much but this song caught me yesterday as I was waiting at the light. I listen to talk radio in the morning but as I was switching through channels I came across this angel sing this catchy song!  I started bobbing my head to the beat and singing the chorus, which is remarkable since its the first time I heard the song. Apparently anything with a catchy beat and an easy chorus works for me.

Beyonce is just cranking out the hits! This is  a song that just makes you want to dance in your room, at least thats what I do when i’m alone in my room. I know i’m too old for all that but I cant help it when I hear this song…..  Are you ever too old to dance alone in you room? Stay tuned for the webcam footage of that one (thanks  to my beautiful new bronze HP)….

Where have all the blacks gone?

More specifically where have all the dark blacks gone?

I was watching B.E.T yesterday, something I haven’t done for years! Mostly due to the fact that I feel that they are no longer relevant nor are they the voice of African Americans.  They certainly don’t play as much music as they did before and when they do play a video they only play half of it. Now I could go on and on about the sins of B.E.T but what I saw yesterday was not only disconcerting and discouraging but somewhat biased!

I was watching a preview for a new show that they are premiering called “Harlem Heights” at first glance it seemed like another ridiculous reality show that I would more than likely watch with disgust yet tune in every week to see what happens next,but as I watched the promo something struck me, see if you see it too!

Why are all these people light? There are two moderately dark guys on the show but everyone else for the most part is extremely light. I thought that maybe I was just over analyzing things, like I usually do, but after thinking about it I have every reason to be a little upset about this. Would it have killed you B.E.T to put a darker girl on the show? Dark men have always been considered extremely sexy and sensual but dark women have always had a terrible stigma associated with them, always made to seem less desirable.  We’re so influenced by what we see and from what B.E.T airs they seem to make it apparent who and what they prefer.

You may say “Cici don’t make such a big deal out of this its only entertainment!” Are you serious? Entertainment is one of the biggest influences in a young person’s life! Why do you think most women desire to be stick thin? Where do we learn about new styles? New dances?   New fads? That’s right entertainment. So when you show only people of a certain skin tone you’re making it known what YOU think is desirable and what YOU think is sexy.  I am of course not bashing those who are lighter nor is it my aim to cause division among my people. But I just ask that we look and analyze the reason why we’re seeing fewer and fewer darker skinned people on T.V and on a station that professes to be the so called “voice of the black people”! From what I see you know nothing of our likes only what you “Think” will appeal (or sell) to the masses.  Let’s make an honest evaluation of this situation, because from what I see apparently darker skin is not “IN” or sexy, at least not from B.E.T’s standpoint.

We always get together and play games, but this past Sunday I decided that we would try something different! Everyone got two sheets of paper and they were supposed to write two questions, the questions could be about anything in general and you could either address it to a specific person or to the whole room. Lets just say that some of the questions were interesting. Here are a few of the questions that were posed:
