Baseball season has officially started and I took it upon myself to organize a game. It was fun even though  my team lost by three points. But were all winners for getting out there and playing with our hearts (but it would have been nice to win, sheesh). I’d like to give a big thanks  to everyone who came and played (or watched). I’d definitely like to do it again soon, after my wounds have healed.

HAPPY REUNION! SORT OF…….

cici-and-deuce1

My friend DJ Deuce graced us with his presence the other week from Connecticut.  You may recognize him from the site I co-write with him called  inthemeanwild.com

Hes always full of advice and wisdom hes like a father to me. But seriously his taste in music is exceptional and broad,  it crosses over so many genres  that I can’t even begin to tell you where it ends. Not only do I try to emulate his style but I try to add as much feeling and emotion into my writting as he does. Sadly I fall short in this respect I guess I havent found that one thing that I’m passionate about, but apparently he has. His writing style is almost like poetry when he writes about music. Check him out at djdeucedeuce.com you wont be disappointed.

See I can be nice sometimes, Now help me build my site……

another-cic-pic2 Coming from someone who’s name is mispronounced constantly I can definitely relate to this song. I am really feeling the “Ting Tings” they have a jazzy unique sound and their subject matter is abstract. When I listen to their music I feel so hip, trendy and young for some reason.

Apparently i’m a hit with drunk white men! I should go on tour of all the Karaoke establishments  in central Florida and shut it down.

On my final performance an intoxicated older Caucasian gentleman kissed my hand and said I had the voice of an angel , I’m still trying to wash the smell of whiskey from my hand. I really enjoyed myself and found out that I’m not as nervous singing in front of a rowdy crowd of bikers than any other group of people, who knew! I sang a rendition of “Gypsy Tramps and thieves” that would have made Cher proud, i added a few “fala la la’s” but over all the crowd loved it.

Special thanks to my friends who hyped up the crowd every time I got on stage, I can still here them cheering my name “cici cici cici”.  A special thanks to Crickets off of Semoran drive past Lake Under Hill road, you’ll definitely see me again next Wednesday for karaoke night!

My Sister is not Photogenic at all!

My sister and I were at a wedding and I wanted to take a picture of the 2 of us together. She’s notorious for blinking exactly as the camera flashes guess how many try’s it took us to get it right?

I think that this song is beautiful. It reminds me of my favorite song from the “Sound of Music” (one of my favorite movies of all time). Maria sings “Favorite Things” for the Van Trapp children and for some odd reason this song reminds me of that moment in the movie.  I guess since both songs talk about fears that’s why I connect the two together. But I just love Jazzys raspy soulful voice. She makes me think of lazy Sunday afternoons just swinging in my hammock with a cool glass of iced tea…….Keep it Moving

Love and Affection by Pressure

Satisfaction by  my one and only John Legend

Since I’m moving at the end of the year I though that it would be fitting to report on all the hot spots and various events around town. Orlando (believe it or not) has a lot to offer. There’s a lot to do and I’m determined to have my fill of what this town has to offer. First Stop the ZORA NEALE HURSTON festival in Eatonville for some cultural fun. We were able to learn a little history about Zora and her family as well as the Eatonville community. It was a lot of fun and the food was really good if you looking for a fun activity for the whole family this is it….Keep it Moving

Taxes For a Gen-Yer!

file-your-taxes

I do my own taxes every year! Or to be honest with you I struggle with my own taxes every year. In January of every year I say that I’m going to have it professionally done but the though of sacrificing 120.00 as a fee for preparing my taxes makes me cringe so I’m preparing my own taxes again this year. I do a  haphazard E-File every year I know that the IRS hates me but who cares, they get an interest free loan from me every year so they can’t  complain, but i digress. This year I slowly started to receive my W2’s I’ve already got 2 , but I’m waiting on 2 more. I had 4 jobs for 2008, when most people have had 4 jobs within their lifetime. Last year added jobs 13-16 to my secular career. What in the world am i doing? I though back to why I left those jobs and came up with some very valid reasons for the regularity of my job changes.

1) Marketing Coordinator at a Land Development Firm – Laid off from the best job of my life due to the economy

2) Cashier at a Department store where I worked for exactly 4 weeks then they let me go since the holiday rush was over( I was glad to leave I will never work at a clothing store again in my life)

3) Marketing coordinator/ Administrative Assistant for a Tutoring Company- Felt that I was being mistreated and the director kept giving me dirty looks. I didnt feel comfortable there so I promptly left after only 3 weeks.

4) Health Insurance Sales person- Current employer

Some of my reasons for leaving certain places of employment seem ridiculous even to me. Not only have I had 4 different jobs I seemed to have changed  fields  altogether each time, how bizarre.  I am currently very comfortable in my current position but who knows how long I’ll stay. But I’ve made a promise to myself. I WILL STAY WITH ONE JOB FOR ALL OF 2009, I’m serious. How often I switch jobs translates to my personal life as well as my relationships. You can’t make anything last if you give up half way , so I’m going to see it  through to the end in everything. I may even prove everyone wrong and date someone to the point of  marriage. That’s the ultimate commitment isn’t it? That’s really sticking with it until the end right?  Well maybe thats taking it a bit far but I’ll give it my best try…Keep it Moving…Keep Filing

THE NEW ME FOR 2009!

nikki-dangerous

THE NEW ME! I looked back at all the things I’ve done for 2008 and how I composed myself and I’m proud of how I reacted to certain situations.  I look forward to so many things. I’m still on vacation for a few more weeks but I wanted to check in so that people don’t think I’m dead because I’m very much alive.

…To be Continued

Life is good, Really good!

Despite it being 2009 I feel exactly the same. Not only that I have to go to work tomorrow (Friday) Whoopee!  Thankfully the gas prices are getting lower.  I already planned my road trip to Vegas! Hopefully the inauguration won’t raise the prices again but who knows……

Finally!
